Bugei Jūhappan (武芸十八般), the 18 martial arts are japanese methods of combat. Since weapons and tactics changed throughout the different periods of Japan, including a long period of peace, Bugei Jūhappan (a catalog of 18 martial skills of the Japanese warrior) had many forms. This catalog of techniques varies from one lineage to another, so this is not exact. Below there is one that was used during the Edo period.

1. Kyūjutsu (弓術 archery techniques)

3. Dakyū (打毬 horsemanship game – very similar to polo)
4. Kishajutsu (騎射術 archery from horseback)
5. Suiba (水馬 water horsemanship)
6. Suiei (水泳術 swimming)
7. Sō jutsu (槍術 spear techniques)
8. Kusarigamajutsu (鎖鎌術 sickle and chain techniques)
9. Naginatajutsu (長刀術 or 薙刀術 glaive techniques)
10. Kenjutsu (剣術 sword techniques)
